OUR PROJECTS

DAYS FOR GIRLS ENTERPRISE
Keeping girls in school
Days for Girls is a global movement that prepares and distributes sustainable menstrual health solutions to girls who would otherwise miss school during their monthly periods.
We partner with Days for Girls to give feminine hygiene packs - washable pads - to girls and women in the local community.
We work to raise public awareness, educate regarding AIDS and preventable disease, and health and safety. These programs are saving lives, helping girls stay in school and increasing their opportunities.
We have started our own enterprise to sew kits for distribution in the community. We also work with boys to increase their understanding of and respect for women, giving them underwear which most cannot afford.

SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
Providing care and education
Through our sponsorship program we have the potential to make a real and positive change in the community. This is one of our key areas of focus here at Tumaini Miles of Smiles Australia Inc. You can sponsor a child or Trade school student for $42 per month. Get in touch with us today and see how you can be a part of seeing a child thrive.

HIGH SCHOOL AND FURTHER EDUCATION
Breaking the poverty cycle
The majority of youth in this area of Western Kenya never go to high school, let alone university or trade school. This results in the poverty cycle continuing in their families and communities. Tumaini is committed to seeing all of their children succeed and be equipped for life. We support all of our primary school graduates through high school and beyond, as we are able.

BUILDING
Improving infrastructure and Expanding opportunities
Tumaini is a work in progress. We are continually expanding as we are able. Generous supporters and an Australian government grant have enabled us to start a trade school, work on a dairy, build classrooms and a home for the most vulnerable. Currently work is about to begin on a dining/kitchen complex at the trade school which will double as a place for the students to eat, as well as offering a catering course. In time we hope the trade school will be able to provide catering and other services in the local community, generating income to become more self-sufficient.
